This test measures the level of thyroglobulin in your blood. Thyroglobulin is a protein made by cells in the thyroid. The thyroid is a small, butterfly-shaped gland located near the throat. A thyroglobulin test is mostly used as a tumor marker test to help guide thyroid cancer treatment.
Precaution
Usually, no preparation is required before the thyroglobulin test. However, at certain times, depending on the method of test, some dietary supplements such as multivitamins should not be taken at least 12 hours before the test is done to avoid any kind of interference in the test.
